Appeal for Information – Attempted Burglary on Routh Road SW18 |
On Monday 22nd June 2026 at approximately 01:40 hours an attempted burglary occurred at a residential property on Routh Road at the junction with Trinity Road SW18. Two unidentified individuals, both wearing balaclavas, arrived at the location on an e-bike. One suspect dismounted and approached the front of the property, where they attempted to gain entry through the front bay windows, believed to be using a tool to lever them open. The suspect utilised a parked vehicle in the driveway to gain height and access to the windows. The attempt was unsuccessful and no entry was gained. The suspect then returned to the e-bike, and both individuals made off from the scene. Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV, doorbell footage or any information that may assist is asked to come forward. Please contact police quoting the CAD: 4427 25/06/26.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take preventative measures to reduce the risk of burglary. It is recommended to ensure that all windows and doors are secure, particularly at night, and to consider the installation of window locks and reinforced glazing where possible. Leaving climbable items such as vehicles, bins, or ladders close to windows can provide opportunities for offenders and should be avoided where practical. The use of CCTV, motion-activated lighting, and visible alarm systems can act as effective deterrents. Residents should also report any suspicious activity promptly.
